How to Plan a COVID-19 Ski Vacation to Breckenridge

If you're planning a ski vacation this year, it's going to be a LOT different.

Breckenridge Ski Resort opened on Nov. 13. The resort has outlined their operating plans for the 2020-2021 upcoming ski & snowboard season and how to allow you and your family to safely enjoy a ski day here in Brecknridge. In addition to requiring facial coverings and physical distancing, the biggest change is a RESERVATIONS SYSTEM

What to know about Breckenridge Ski Resort:

  • RESERVATIONS: Reservations to ski for this season at Breck Ski Resort will be required, but they're hoping to NOT limit capacity on most days (there are no guarantees, of course). If you don't get a reservation, try, try, try again. The reservations will sometimes open up the next before or the same day.
    • You can book up to 7 PRIORITY RESERVATIONS in advance for Dec. 8-April 4 at www.epicpass.com
  • Ski resort food & beverage options are limited. Ski school is operating, but with limited capacity and new protocols
  • Facial coverings are required
  • Lift riding is limited to your own party or a certain # of people depending on the capacity of the chairlift/gondola

BOOK YOUR WINTER STAY

So, what does this mean for you?

  • NEW RESERVATIONS SYSTEM: Make your reservations first and then book your lodging to guarantee your ski days. You can also make week-of reservations beyond your 7 priority advance reservations.
  • PLAN AHEAD for lunch and breaks. Beaver Run has indoor dining. Spencer's is open for breakfast and dinner. Or, grab your lunch at the Coppertop Cafeteria or Skywalk Deli and enjoy your lunch in the NEW Dining Hall in the Colorado Ballroom inside Beaver Run Resort.
  • NON-SKI DAYS:  Plan for a non-ski day or two. Don't forget -There are A LOT of other winter activities and adventures in Breckenridge. Breckenridge offers fat biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing ("know before you go!"), ice skating, dog sledding, tubing, sleigh rides, art classes and SO, SO much more. ** Please check in advance for availability and operations of these activities **
We know this is different operating procedures than in years past and it's a LOT of information. Please take some time to review it all.

Other tips for your stay

  • SKI RENTALS: Plan in advance and book your rentals online. Get a discount through Breck Sports for a convenient, on-site experience at Beaver Run with access to one of the largest collections of ski and snowboard rental equipment.
  • STOCK UP ON HAND WARMERS: With limited indoor capacity, you'll be spending more time outside this year. Stop by the Skywalk Deli & Market and get some extra hand warmers - and snacks, too!
  • BRING AN EXTRA BUFF or facial covering: Your facial covering will get wet. Make sure you have one that wicks away the moisture or pack an extra one.
  • IF YOU CAN'T GET A SKI RESERVATION: Keep trying. Try on the night before your ski day or that morning. Chances are you'll be able to get one at the last-minute. OR, better yet, plan a non-ski day adventure - like snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding or cross-country skiing.
  • PLAN AHEAD: Make your dinner reservations in advance. With limited seating at all of the Breckenridge restaurants, it's important to plan ahead.
  • ORDER GROCERIES: Contact our concierge at 970-453-6000 and order your groceries to be delivered directly to your Beaver Run condo. Our grocery stores are operating with reduced capacities. You will save yourself the time and hassle of shopping and have more time to play.
  • KNOW BEFORE YOU GET HERE: Make sure to check the local public health orders, restrictions and what's open
  • MORE TIPS: Visit the Breckenridge Tourism Office's site to learn more about what to expect for your Breck stay
