Top 5 Leaf Peeping Locations Around Breckenridge

UPDATED: Sept. 10, 2020

Every year, for a few weeks in September, something magical happens in Breckenridge. As the temperatures begin to drop and a chill makes its way into the mountain air, streaks of bright yellow, red and gold paint the Rocky Mountain landscape. Thanks to our lush aspen forests, our fall foliage stands out from that of New England or the Pacific Northwest, colorizing our treetop canopies almost neon and as bright as the Colorado sunshine.

The changing leaves in the High Country are so dramatic this time of year that many ski towns plan their fall festivals and events accordingly, creating a perfectly timed collaboration of mountain town entertainment and scenic beauty. Breckenridge is no stranger to this practice. If you’re thinking of a High Country getaway, be sure to check out our falling lodging rates. Then, make the most of your leaf peeping by heading to these five prime picturesque locations.
