Finding your favorite yoga class and teacher can be an effort. So many studios. Driving. Creating time. If only there was somewhere you could go for a weekend to sample a variety-pack of yoga. Oh wait there is: a Yoga Festival!
What to Expect at a Yoga Festival
Yoga festivals are more and more prevalent in the West and offer you an opportunity to unplug for a few days while you discover and rediscover your yoga practice. Here are some key things you can expect when attending most yoga festivals:Plethora of Classes - There will be more class options than you can truly handle, and sometimes you get too tired by taking all that is possible in your schedule. Pace yourself. Class styles could include AcroYoga, Slackline Yoga, Aerial Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Sound Healing, SUP Yoga, Handstand Workshops, Bhakti Yoga, Meditation and beyond.
Variety of Teachers - Most yoga festivals highlight both local as well as world-class teachers. You can experience classes led by individuals who have been teaching for 15+ years and some who are newer in their teaching lives. There are benefits to both ends of the spectrum, and we encourage you to try both.
Live Music - Not all classes, but a lot of them, will have live musical accompaniment. There’s sometime incredibly special about a musician feeding off the room with their tunes to create an unforgettable vibe.
Community - If you enjoy yoga and mindfulness, you’ll be overcome with a sense of home at a festival. Consider how you feel after a yoga class at your favorite studio, and then multiply that feeling by a million percent. Yup. You won’t want to leave.
Vendors - Almost every yoga festival will bring in like-minded vendors to share their goods. This can be anything from kombucha and clothing to yoga props and jewelry. Think of it as the best maker’s market you’ll visit all year.
Outdoor Connection - At most yoga festivals you are offered a multitude of opportunities to connect with Mother Nature. This can be in the form of gentle hikes, building earth altars, incredible views, fusion yoga classes and more.
